SoCal Museum Free-For-All + Last day of "Crazy World Ain't It: The Art of John Van Hamersveld"

 is a month-long Thursday night series celebrating music, community, and creativity. Join us every Thursday in February from 

Whether you’re stopping by after work or making a night of it, Fender February offers the perfect atmosphere to unwind, connect, and enjoy great sound and flavor in a vibrant setting. Each week brings a fresh mix of music and experiences, making every Thursday something to look forward to.

Terre Barbin, vocals and rhythm guitar and Eric Nahrwold, vocals, lead guitar and banjo, have been playing together since 1996. Peter Laudenslager, lap resonator guitar and Earnie Neagle, standup and electric bass, joined them in 2018. Their Saddleback Bluegrass Band plays both Bluegrass and Americana music.

Jeff was born and raised in La Habra CA. He attended Glen A Wilson High School and was in the jazz choir.  After graduating he attended Fullerton community college and studied theatre. From 2017 to 2025 he served in the California National Guard. 

The sound of Country Mother Trucker was born in the streets of Orange County. Country Mother Trucker honors the rich history of classic country music while respecting the roots of local punk culture in Southern California, creating a sound that is pure unapologetic country. This 2 piece Country/Cowpunk Band from Southern California was founded by Jerome Ryan and Oliver Althoen in response to the radio-friendly commercial country coming out of Nashville in modern days. Paying respect to the roots of outlaw Country music represented by Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, Jerome writes the songs and Oliver lays down the slide guitar.

Sage Sam is a 19 year old international singer and musician from Costa Mesa, California. With his heartfelt lyrics in his original music, captivating production, and emotionally charged performances, Sage Sam has gained an audience of over two hundred thousand fans across his platforms.

Neil Levin is a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and producer from Orange County, CA, known for pioneering the genre “Cosmic Blues,” which fuses blues and indie rock to revive that classic sound in modern music. Since founding his jam band counterconformity in 2018, Neil has released multiple solo and collaborative projects. In 2025 he not only played 150 shows, but also released his solo album, The Nightnoon. That same year he also completed his MA from Berklee College of Music in 2025.

STARBR33D is an unique blend of k-indie, shoegaze, alternative, indie, electronic rock, dreampop, post punk.. her music envelops listeners in a dreamlike ethereal haze, inviting them to explore the depths of emotion and imagination with poetic lyrics in Korean and English. Fans say she reminds them of girl Nirvana, Courtney Love, Cocteau Twins, The Cranberries, and Mazzy Star.

“Dreams and Liminality,” an exhibition by Taylor Moon Castagnari, is a photographic series that explores the thin veil between dreams and reality. Set within liminal environments such as doctor’s offices and airports, the work uses metaphor to evoke the subconscious and invite viewers to reconsider everyday constructs and biases. The series will be presented as a solo exhibition at the Fullerton Museum Center, where the gallery will be transformed into a dreamlike environment referencing banal office-style waiting areas.

"CRAZY WORLD AIN’T IT: The Art of John Van Hamersveld”

 is a retrospective celebrating the six-decade career of one of America’s most influential graphic artists. Best known for his iconic 1964 

 poster, Van Hamersveld helped shape the visual language of surf culture, rock ’n’ roll, and American pop art. The exhibition features a wide-ranging selection of his work, including album covers, posters, drawings, paintings, prints, digital compositions, and photomurals of public works.   Organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions, this show offers an in-depth look at an artist whose bold colors, psychedelic forms, and innovative designs captured the spirit of multiple generations.

Van Hamersveld’s prolific output includes more than 300 album covers for artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, and The Beach Boys. Beyond music, he brought his visionary style to brand identities for companies like Fatburger and JIMMY’Z, as well as large-scale public art installations, including the globally viewed Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas. His work is held in major institutions like MoMA and LACMA, and his cultural legacy continues to resonate—both through ongoing exhibitions and the widely viewed documentary about his life,

"A Man Named Charlie: Fender’s Unsung Hero", celebrates the life and legacy of Charlie Davis, a quiet force behind Fender’s golden era. Beginning his journey with the company in 1957, Charlie worked every step of the manufacturing line, from rough-cut wood to the final finish. But it was his unmatched skill in winding pickups that earned him legendary status. Revered by musicians and trusted by icons like Dick Dale, Charlie became the only technician many would allow near their prized guitars. His hands shaped the sound of surf rock and beyond, helping define a generation of music. Through decades of change, Charlie remained fiercely loyal to Fender, embodying the spirit of craftsmanship and dedication. This exhibit honors his remarkable contributions and finally gives this unsung hero his spotlight.

The Fullerton Museum Center proudly presents 

 a new biennial juried exhibition dedicated exclusively to artists living and working in Orange County, the only exhibition of its kind in the region.

Showcasing 108 artists and over 130 artworks, the exhibition spans painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, reflecting the breadth and creative vitality of Orange County’s contemporary art scene. Together, these works form an evolving narrative shaped by diverse voices, grounded in place, and defined by each artist’s unique perspective.

We are honored to have esteemed pillars of the art community serve as guest jurors: Abel Alejandre, multidisciplinary artist; John D. Spiak, Director and Chief Curator of Grand Central Art Center; and Dave Tourjé, multidisciplinary artist and co-founder of the California Locos collective, who will select the top three winners, announced on Opening Day.
