Gustavo Hernandez is the author of the poetry collection Flower Grand First (Moon Tide Press 2021) and Bachelor (FlowerSong Press 2025). In January 2024, Hernandez was appointed Poet Laureate of Orange County, California. He was born in Jalisco, Mexico and was raised in Santa Ana, California, where he still resides.

“Dreams and Liminality,” an exhibition by Taylor Moon Castagnari, is a photographic series that explores the thin veil between dreams and reality. Set within liminal environments such as doctor’s offices and airports, the work uses metaphor to evoke the subconscious and invite viewers to reconsider everyday constructs and biases. The series will be presented as a solo exhibition at the Fullerton Museum Center, where the gallery will be transformed into a dreamlike environment referencing banal office-style waiting areas.

"CRAZY WORLD AIN’T IT: The Art of John Van Hamersveld”

 is a retrospective celebrating the six-decade career of one of America’s most influential graphic artists. Best known for his iconic 1964 

 poster, Van Hamersveld helped shape the visual language of surf culture, rock ’n’ roll, and American pop art. The exhibition features a wide-ranging selection of his work, including album covers, posters, drawings, paintings, prints, digital compositions, and photomurals of public works.   Organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions, this show offers an in-depth look at an artist whose bold colors, psychedelic forms, and innovative designs captured the spirit of multiple generations.

Van Hamersveld’s prolific output includes more than 300 album covers for artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, and The Beach Boys. Beyond music, he brought his visionary style to brand identities for companies like Fatburger and JIMMY’Z, as well as large-scale public art installations, including the globally viewed Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas. His work is held in major institutions like MoMA and LACMA, and his cultural legacy continues to resonate—both through ongoing exhibitions and the widely viewed documentary about his life,

"A Man Named Charlie: Fender’s Unsung Hero", celebrates the life and legacy of Charlie Davis, a quiet force behind Fender’s golden era. Beginning his journey with the company in 1957, Charlie worked every step of the manufacturing line, from rough-cut wood to the final finish. But it was his unmatched skill in winding pickups that earned him legendary status. Revered by musicians and trusted by icons like Dick Dale, Charlie became the only technician many would allow near their prized guitars. His hands shaped the sound of surf rock and beyond, helping define a generation of music. Through decades of change, Charlie remained fiercely loyal to Fender, embodying the spirit of craftsmanship and dedication. This exhibit honors his remarkable contributions and finally gives this unsung hero his spotlight.

The Fullerton Museum Center is proud to inaugurate the OC Made exhibition, a groundbreaking biennial showcase set to become a signature tradition for the institution. This juried exhibition will feature original artwork from across Orange County, capturing the creative spirit and innovation of our local artists. By showcasing a diverse spectrum of media, from painting and photography to digital media, sculpture, and mixed media, OC Made aims to reflect the rich and evolving nature of the art scene in Orange County, California.  

While this year’s exhibition is non-thematic, future editions of OC Made will feature curated themes to guide submissions.

To be considered for this juried exhibition, artists must be at least 18 years of age and either be a resident, work, OR attend school in OC to qualify. 

All submitted works must be original, completed within the past two years, and must not have been previously exhibited at the Fullerton Museum Center or in North Orange County galleries, such as Muckenthaler, Muzeo, or Brea Gallery.

All work must reflect the highest standards of artistic integrity and must be the original creation of the submitting artist. Use of digital editing tools such as Photoshop and other post-processing software is acceptable, as long as the work remains a product of the artist’s own creative vision and effort. 

However, artworks that incorporate or are generated by artificial intelligence (AI) will not be accepted. OC Made is dedicated to showcasing authentic, human-made creativity and ensuring a fair, honest selection process.

Artists are welcome to submit an unlimited number of entries. Each submission can include up to five pieces and requires a non-refundable fee of $20, which covers administrative costs. There is no cap on the total number of submissions an artist may make.

Unfortunately, entry fees are non-refundable. Fees are charged solely to cover the administrative costs of processing submissions and the juried review of works for possible inclusion in the exhibition. Payment of an entry fee does not guarantee selection or the receipt of an award.

We recognize that entry fees may be a barrier for some artists. While such fees are a common industry practice to help offset exhibition-related expenses, including jury administration, installation, and public programming, the selection of artists and awards is based entirely on artistic merit as determined by the jury.

Artworks will be selected for the exhibition based on visual quality, originality, and overall concept, as determined by the Fullerton Museum’s Curatorial Staff.

Selection for exhibition and all awards are based solely on artistic merit as determined by the jury; no element of chance is involved, and payment of an entry fee does not increase the likelihood of selection or receipt of an award.

All artworks accepted into the exhibition will be judged by a professional guest juror, and winners are chosen based on

Award winners will be announced on Opening Day.

Award winners will also have the option to enter our Artist in Residence program and future exhibit.

Wall-mounted works should not exceed 96” inches in height and must weigh no more than 100 lbs. Freestanding pieces, such as sculptures, should not exceed 120” inches in height or 48” inches in circumference and weigh no more than 100lbs

All submitting artists will be notified of their acceptance status via email. Those selected will have one week to confirm their participation and will receive detailed instructions regarding next steps. Accepted artists must agree to all terms set forth by the Fullerton Museum Center and are responsible for all transportation or shipping costs to and from the Museum.
