Opening Saturday, January 25th, 2025, 1968: A Folsom Redemption and Beyond Confinement: The Untold Stories come together to explore the profound impact of art on individuals affected by the incarceration system. 1968, celebrates the 50th anniversary of Johnny Cash’s legendary performances at one of the nation's first maximum-security prisons, offering a collection of photographs and memories from two journalists who were lucky enough to be among a handful of eyewitnesses to the historic concerts. This candid and personal photography exhibition covers a critical juncture in the career of Johnny Cash, one of the twentieth century's most beloved performers.

In dialogue with this historic moment, Beyond Confinement: The Untold Stories showcases the work of individual artists affected by the incarceration system. Featured artists include  Alberto Lule, Fulton Leroy Washington, Khadijah Silva, Nicholas Tirado, and others. Through their diverse mediums, these artists share personal narratives that illuminate the role of creative expression and emphasize the vital role of arts programming for those impacted by the system. 

Together, the two exhibitions highlight the ongoing relevance of art as a vehicle for transformation, both within and beyond the walls of confinement.

From the spark of an idea to a permanent gallery, Strumming Through the Decades: Thirty Years with Fender will highlight how our permanent Fender gallery came to be. As well as provide a map of Fender landmarks around Fullerton, to help visitors mentally and physically walk in Leo's steps throughout our town. Photos, videos, mementos and testimonials by key Fullertonians are also featured, as the Fullerton Museum Center continues to help build Leo's legacy.

Punk OC: From the Streets of Suburbia celebrates the vibrant and influential punk rock scene that emerged in Orange County, California, which played a crucial role in the evolution of punk. This exhibit will provide an engaging and educational experience that explores the region's unique contributions—showcasing the music, fashion, activism, and rebellious spirit that defined OC punk and continues to resonate and inspire.
